I helped John a bit with the plumbing this morning. He discovered after it was all done that he had the incoming going to the hot water line instead of the cold. We got the parts to fix it, but didn't do it today, the smell of the glue was so strong I think it was making us woozy. I was dizzy and had a headache and I think it was the glue smell in that little closed in room. Later John ran the conduit and put electric line from the pink room to the outside wood room. He put conduit in before we poured the sidewalk, so the link goes under. Our pour from yesterday is doing well, we covered it with plastic because the wind was drying it out too fast and there is still moisture under there.
My visiting teacher came by today, I don't know why, but since they switched wards and I got a new one, I dread her coming. I like her, it's Dodie LeSueur, but I just don't feel comfortable with her like I did tonya.
We started smelling smoke this afternoon and when I went outside to see where it was coming from, the air was hazy and smoky. It got worse as the day went on, found it it's a controlled burn over by Pinetop. Andy said it was bad at Mountain Meadows, they thought it was coming from a recent control burn by them, called and found it wasn't, it was from the Pinetop burn. They always seem to start their burns on the windy days, wish they wouldn't do that!!

I forgot to post today so trying to remember what we did. I think we poured the last bit of the sidewalk by the casa wall and the edge where the wall was. Good to have that done!
I discovered in my searching for a fix for the computer troubles I'm having that the service I use to back up my computer was taking up a bunch of space. Almost half the c drive at one point! 41.4 GB out of the 116 on my c drive! I emailed them and told them how big one folder was and they said I could delete some of the files, but it might cause trouble. I didn't do it then, but when my drive got down to 0 space left again, I went and deleted some of them. It freed up a lot of space! Not sure I'll keep using backblaze, I back up to externals anyway, so I have the files.

Wow, it's the last day of April already! This month flew by so fast. Aunt Robbie is in Utah now, staying with Russell and Annette until she can get into the hospital up there that specializes in cancer. I need to email her! Mom calls her quite often to check on her. I sure hope they can kick this thing for her!! She's too young and sweet to go now.
John was having pancakes this am so I decided to try making up a waffle. I used an egg and put coconut flour and cream in it. The waffle was so tender, I couldn't get it out of the iron, had to turn the iron upside down and let it fall out. It was too dry and wasn't that good, don't think I'll try that again. I cooked an egg in the iron a while back and it wasn't bad.
Laundry day, I'm doing laundry and am going to work on my DITL album. John went up to Hendo's to visit.

Woke up to a snow covered world! It was a weird day, the sun came out and melted the snow, then it snowed again, then it hailed, then the sun came out and then it got cloudy and snowed again! Whew!
Today was Chrome in the Dome and we went. Seems like it's picking up again, there were more cars than last year. Justin Taylor talked some of the people from his rat rod world to come. A couple from the valley brought up their two, Justin and Alyssa each had one, and there were several others. Justin tried to talk John into taking our Dodge up, but it doesn't have brakes and we didn't want to run it into something getting it down the ramp into the dome. I think my favorite at the show was a turquoise blue dune buggy type vehicle. So cute!
After the show we came home and ate lunch, John napped, then we ran up to J'Net's to look at the photos she wanted to show us. They are old historic photos and she is trying to identify the people in them. John knew some of the guys in one, but we weren't much help. I borrowed one she had of the old Eagar School from 1909. I think this is the building my Grandma Davis would have gone to.
Justin brought his rat rod friends over this afternoon to look at John's art and our truck. I thought they'd give it up as the weather was so cold! They seemed to enjoy the art and the old dodge. One lady loves old buildings and I showed her my wash house. She loved it.
Ate supper and watched some TV, then went to bed. I was so chilled today, we turned our ETS heater back on yesterday and it did warm the house up a bit today, guess I got used to the warm weather and so the cold bothers me more.

Cloudy morning and we got rain and snow.

Slept pretty good last night, we've both been having trouble sleeping lately and have spent time sleeping in the recliner chairs. It was already windy when we got up, still no moisture that we're supposed to be getting. It's been below freezing the last couple nights, I checked my pears yesterday and they don't look frozen, hope they will make it!

I started working on my WITL album today. I printed out what I thought was going to be my title page the other day and today I saw Ali's post showing her title page and I really liked her page, so I redid mine. I also did an intentions page and took a picture of John and I for that page. I've been wanting to do a picture of us, but didn't get around to it during WITL. Now I've got 2 pages done! I did my Monday and Tuesday pages the other day and also did some of the Monday pictures. I did printing on the photos and now that I redid the title page, I don't like the font I used, so I think I'm going to redo those. The photos lack pop and are kind of too dark anyway. John built the form for the last pour on the Casa back patio area. Be good to get it done. The Madrid's came by last night to look at the job John is going to have the boys do. Their Dad posted on FB that they needed to earn money to go to scout camp, so John contacted him and their Dad came over the other day and John and he agreed on a price. When the boys came the guys acted like they hadn't already set a price and John asked the boys what they would do the job for, just so the boys could get the experience. They looked at the job and said they'd do it for $60! (the job is stacking the wood from the tree trim along the fence line and putting the little branches on the trailer) John and Thane had agreed on $160 for the job, so John told the boys that wasn't enough money for the job and he was going to give the $160. He said they were pretty happy! Their Dad is going to match what they earn and that will get them what they need for camp.
I moved the boxes from the pink room out to the glass room and we put the insulation in the attic. The pink room looks much better now. I want to finish up in there and I think I'm going to move our old recliners in there and put a rug Mom is giving me in there. Thought about making that room a guest room, but with the door in it, it's not very big.
Andy came by and soldered the pipe in casa so John can go ahead and hook up the water heater and we'll have water. Now we need to get a sink and toilet for the bathroom!

April 25, 2017
Well, WITL is over now, my computer has been giving me problems and I finally gave up trying to use it. It got down to where it said I had 0 space left! Andy worked on it remotely and got it up to 17 GB, but that only lasted a day or so and it was worse than before. I'm not sure what is going on with it. I did a disk cleanup and it said I had 10 gb in updates! Updates that were outdated, so I got rid of them. Found that backblaze has a folder with 25 GB in it! I thought it was supposed to upload stuff to their servers, not load up my computer! I wrote to them and I think maybe I can delete the stuff in that folder, I wrote back to double check with them.
Today has been pretty windy, not a good day to be outside. I started working on printing out my pictures for WITL to put in the album for Monday. I'm having a hard time getting going on it, seems like my brain can't figure out what to do.
Justin Taylor came by for a visit today, we had a good visit. We'd heard that he and Allysia were splitting, he said they are having problems, I'm sure stemming from his accident. He said they are working on their problems, hope they work it out. He's bringing some of his rat rod friends by either Friday or Saturday to look at John's sculptures and our truck. We put linseed oil on it the other day, wow it made it pop! Looks pretty good now.
Had trouble getting to sleep again tonight. Ended up getting up and so did John for a bit. The chile we had for supper gave us heartburn and my heart is acting up. Ended up getting up a couple nights ago for the same reason. Getting tired of this! My heart has been acting up a lot lately.

April 20 2017 Week in the Life Day 4
I'm running out of steam on this project, I always do about this time of the week!
Got up about 5:41 just made it before the sun came up! Well actually it was peaking over the horizon when I got out side. Shot the sunrise at 5:43 the sun had already peaked over the horizon, but wasn't up much. Took my thyroid pill and blood sugar then checked in on the computer while John read.
6:40 John did the dishes, he usually does them in the morning.
Ate breakfast about 7 am. John had cereal, I just couldn't face eggs this morning, so I just had cocoa. Oh how I would love a piece of toast with peanut butter and jam! Most of the time I do well with my diabetic diet, but some days I crave something I can't have.
John went to the shop to work and I stripped the bed and put the sheets in the laundry. I think it's time to switch to a lighter blanket on the bed, the quilt is just too warm now.
Gathered up some stuff and took it to casa.
Took a bath and checked on John and we sprayed poison around the outside of the house and the cabinet bases hoping to get rid of ants!
I scrubbed the edge of the countertops and John took off the old silicone and put new, there were some cracks and maybe the ants are getting in there? We'll see. Took down the curtains and washed them.
11:11 ate lunch next door on the casa front porch. It was starting to get a bit breezy, but it wasn't bad on the porch. After lunch John took a nap, then hunted for some old photos he took of the old buildings in St. Johns years ago. Dolly Patterson was in Flagstaff and checked out Charlie Hoffman's stuff at the Cline library after I suggested it to them at the library. She found some stuff and a letter to Charlie from John about some houses he left out of the St. Johns survey. She is interested in getting them for the museum. I have no idea what we might have done with them, today's search didn't turn them up.
He did come across some negatives taken way back when of the rock machines they used to make and I scanned them for him.
My Thrive Life order got here, freeze dried burger and green chili. We need to start eating more of the stuff!
John helped me made the bed, then I caught up on this blog.
The wind is starting to pick up a bit, yuck!
We spent some time this afternoon looking for a book John remembered that we had about researching houses. Didn't find it, today is turning into a frustrating day, so tired of searching and not finding!!

April 19 2017 Week in the Life day 3
Got up at 5:06 this morning. It's light when I wake up, I love this time of the year! The sun came up at 5:45 this morning, love when it's early up and late down!! Did dishes and checked facebook and my blog. We ate breakfast at 6:20. I take a thyroid pill every morning and have to wait an hour after taking it to eat. Sometimes John is starving by breakfast time, but he won't go ahead and eat early.
John bought concrete this morning and mixed some up and we poured another slab next to the back Casa wall where the cement was sloping towards the house. Didn't matter when it was inside, but now that it's outside we don't want water standing next to the adobe wall.
We took a load of trash to the dump after we finished the pour. We had some deconstruction debris to get rid of and it cost $17 to dump it! We've had several expensive loads of stuff from the roof and walls!
Had lunch and John took his daily nap, then we took Mom's photos back to her that I've been copying. She was amazed that I got done so fast! That's about all I've done since I got them so I could get them back. Brought home a few more to do, she had them in her cupboard. She was upset about the gravel she had dumped in her driveway. It's too thick and she got stuck in it a couple times.
Read for a while, then we started supper, taco salad again. Watched Cheers while we ate, we've watched the entire show before, but it's been long enough we could watch again and not know what was going to happen. One of the perks of getting old, we can't remember, LOL!
Messed with the computer for a while, it's giving me troubles I don't know what's up with it, Andy is going to come tomorrow and undo the partition and make the c drive bigger, it's saying I only have a GB left! A few days ago I had 16 left.
Got a call from Mom, she just talked to Robbie and they are releasing her. They tested her for pancreatic cancer and she doesn't have that, but they don't know what she does have. She has trouble with her legs, can't feel them and has trouble walking and has lost control of her bodily functions. They said she has a tumor on her spine and some in her brain, but they don't know what kind. Russell is going to come get her and take her to Utah where she will go in a hospital up there that is supposed to be good at treating cancer. I'm not sure they have decided she has cancer, I've heard she has it in her spine but not her brain and the other way around. Hope they figure it out soon!
Took our nightly melatonin and magnesium and it's almost bedtime. Another day in the life over, time goes by so fast!
I was thinking back to a year ago and the things we were doing, I can sure see a decline in both our health in the last year! Our knees are bothering us, John had shots in his knee a while back and it helped, but he has a hard time doing anything on his knees now and working at Casa has made them hurt again. Mine has started bothering me more. I decided to try taping mine a while back, it was hurting all the time and I was having a hard time walking. I have been amazed at how much it has helped! It cut the pain level way down and I can walk easier. I mentioned it to John and he had me tape his and he says it has helped him too! It's great to find something that helps without medical intervention! John's track record with surgeries isn't good, he has complications after and doesn't want to go through it again if he can help it! Me either.

April 18 2017 Week in the life day 2
Got up at 5:34 this morning, not long before the sun came up at 5:47.
Spent most of the day scanning mom's photos and putting them in order. They were so mixed up. Hopefully she will have an easier time getting them in albums now. I scanned 447 photos and documents! I didn't scan everything, just the ones that I wanted to print.
John took the putt up to the tire shop to get the wheels rotated. They said the front brakes need replacing, he made an appointment to do that later. I've been hearing rubbing sounds coming from the front of the vehicle for a while now, hopefully getting new brakes will fix that.
Spent a while this afternoon downloading my camera cards to externals. Didn't realize I had 4 of them to do.
I strolled about this afternoon checking out plants, I found a few lilacs that bloomed, most are still tight buds like it always does, not sure they will ever open up. There is a lilac bush down the street from us that is in bloom, not sure why mine always freeze. The locust tree is starting to bud out, spring must be here now!
We ate supper at 5:33 and watched forensic files while we ate. After we watched Highway Thru Hell.
Ran some scans on my computer, it's been acting up a lot lately. Says I only have just over 1 GB of space left on my c drive! Andy moved the paging file from the c drive and I had 16 GB left, in just a couple days it was down to 1, less than before he moved the paging file! He's going to expand the c drive into the d drive, but it wouldn't let him do it remotely, he'll have to come here and use a boot disk to do it. Hope that will fix the problems and it won't just fill that up with whatever is filling up the c drive! I've taken off a lot of programs and it doesn't grow, it just keeps filling up.
8pm and bedtime! Remembered to take the phone off the hook tonight, last night we got a call at 8:30 and it woke John up. We get so many telemarketer calls at night, don't know why they call so late! So tired of it, my cell is getting them now, too, most all of the calls I get are them.

April 17, 2017 Day one of Week in the life.
I slept in a bit this morning, didn't get up until about 5:30. Took my thyroid pill and blood sugar. BS was 97! Shot the sunrise, then checked email while John did the dishes. We ate breakfast, then John went out to burn more demo wood and chip the concrete we're removing because it's sloping towards the Casa. I checked out facebook and watched the cute show Fi and Brett made. Then I started working on Mom's photos, sorting and scanning those I want. It's going slower than the first box I did, the photos aren't organized at all. I went over to check and see how John was doing and ended up helping him finish the slab, In my jammies, LOL! Went back to scanning. We ate lunch about 11 and watched forensic files while we ate, there is no room on the table to eat!! Took my bath after John got up from his nap. When John left for the tire shop, I did the dishes and swept the floor. Found out later he never made it to the tire shop, he met Eric coming to our house and came back to visit with him. When he came in he took a shower to get ready for Chris Patterson and Eve to come by. Chris invited us out to eat supper with them. We had a good visit with Chris, he showed up alone, he had an eye appointment earlier and Eve had something to do, so she came up later. We ate at booga reds, I didn't get a photo of our meal or our companions, my cell phone battery died on me. I had a burger pattie with green chili and cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. It wasn't very good, I couldn't even taste the chile! John had a green chili burger with his fries smothered in chile. He said his was good. Came home and had dessert, me berries and cream, John ice cream and watched an episode of forensic files. It's now 7:35 almost time to go to bed. Oh, reminds me I didn't take my night pills yet! Okay got that done.
It's 8 now and bedtime, the end of day one!

April 16 2017
Easter. It was a weird easter this year. No easter eggs dyed, no easter picnic. Not sure what Andy's family did, we didn't hear from them. I miss the old days when Jes would come over and we'd dye eggs and do easter crafts.
I spent the morning scanning in the photos I borrowed from Mom, I didn't scan them all, just the ones with my family in them and other group shots I wanted. Mom and Carleen came up and we ate at the Safire with them. Had a nice visit with the owner, Kathy. Her twin, Kay passed away so she is running it by herself now. She's such a sweet lady! She and Kay were so close, and I could never tell them apart!
Mom brought up the rest of the photos for me to go through and I sent the box I finished up back with her. There were a lot of photos in the wrong year, so I put them in better order for her. The new boxes are in a much bigger mess than the box I had, it's going to take me a while and there are lots of them I don't know the years.
My computer is still acting funny. After Andy tinkered with it the other day, I had around 16 GB of space, today it's less than 1! And I haven't saved anything to the c drive, so not sure what's going on. It froze up on me again the other day, guess it's just tired. Andy is going to merge two partitions, he was able to undo the d drive and shrunk it down to 30 GB and made it a paging directory, and took that off the c drive, but he couldn't get the c drive to expand. I'm wondering if the page file thing came back and that's why I'm so low on space? He has to bring a boot disk to merge the drives, he tried the other day, but it wouldn't let him increase the size of the c drive.
Well, tomorrow is the first day of WITL, hoping I can remember to keep this up! I need to go get my album, it has the daily sheets in it.
I spent the morning scanning in the photos I borrowed from Mom, I didn't scan them all, just the ones with my family in them and other group shots I wanted. We met Andy at the gate into Hidden Meadow Ranch today. Andy is doing work for them, putting in a system for wifi and they also want camera's at the gates into the place. It's locked up and you have a have a code to get in. Andy is wanting John to design and build something to hide a camera at the back gate. He gave us a tour of the place, it's big and there are lots of houses there! Originally, they rented out cabins and had a restaurant for the people staying there and also the general public. The current owner is selling the cabins and houses off. No more rentals. We didn't even know they did that, it looks like it was a cool place to go! They have horses to rent, a pond to fish in, a place for kids to do crafts, archery, etc. Andy said they will still have public areas that will provide these things, but it will be only for the residents of the ranch.
After we left Andy we went to Carnaro Lake for a picnic, ate and came on home. It's windy again today, my poor eyes hurt all the time, the dirt in the air gets in them and they fell terrible!

Slow start this morning. I messed around on the computer catching up on facebook.
My FBS was 96 this morning! Yipee! It wasn't as good 1 hour after eating, it was 130. I wonder if the fiber I started taking is upping it?
The guys finished up the stucco today. It looks so good! Glad to have it done. I watched them work and Chooch gave me tips on how to do it so I can do my wash house. Got the recipe for the stucco so we can make our own. I'm hoping that will work better than the ready made mix we used before. We paid Chooch $500 and Larry got $455.
No word on Aunt Robbie, hope she is doing okay!
Talked to Carleen, she said they still haven't figured out what to do about Robbie. She has a tumor on her spine and two in her brain, all inoperable. They don't know if they are cancerous or not.
Carleen and Mom came up to get some stuff for Carleen's garden, she is raising her garden box, it did the same thing as mine, roots from a tree got into it Showed them the house, then when they left I got inthused about my garden and went down and tore out all the dead tomatoes and some of the carrots. I found one tomato plant that started from a seed, I expected more would sprout, there were so many mushed tomatoes there.
Ate supper, watched TV for a bit. My bs is running high again this afternoon and evening Too many carbs I guess. I had a mug cake this afternoon, I'm thinking that did it.

We went to WalMart early this morning. We had a long list of things, the bill ended up being almost $700! Wow, we did get two $100 phone cards tho, that's a once a year thing. We only go every month or two and pick up bathroom stuff and pills and health stuff mostly.
When we got home the stucco guys were here, yesterday they said they were going to work somewhere else today. Guess they got through early. I think they only got here a short time before we did, they had some scaffolding up and the first batch of mortar ready to go. They're getting a lot done today! They got the first coat on almost to the corner of the building. Tomorrow they will put on a second coat and finish up the corner. So good to get this done, it looks really nice! We've been watching them getting tips on how to stucco. Maybe I can finish up the wash house with my new learned knowledge.
Gary from New Mexico left his trailer here. We had a phone message that he'd left it to go to ShowLow, later he called to say he'd had car trouble and was at the Dirt Brother's getting it fixed. He showed up about 8 to pick it up and go on home. We went to bed shortly after that. Hope he made it home okay. He said the fuel pump went out on it.

Cool this am, it's supposed to be windy today, yuck! Hope it doesn't dry out our pour next door!
I moved an old computer and my silhouette to Casa this morning. John poured more cement on the slab edge. We're about 3/4 done!
Don Turner stopped by to give me a cute little can. He knows I love cans, so he's always bringing me one. He said the sale of his business fell through, only 3 weeks left until he leaves and he's not sure what he'll do if he can't find another buyer.
The guys that are going to do our stucco showed up this afternoon. They got the metal mesh all installed!

Wow, I got busy and forgot to post, so much for my practice for WITL! I've been having computer troubles, I think I got a malware or something and my computer kept freezing up on me. I've been copying files to an external, that took a while!! Andy stopped by on Saturday and he had his kill app with him and stuck it in and found some stuff and deleted it. Been running malware scans and ccleaner scans since. I have found that some programs don't work any longer, not sure if the cleanup deleted some or if the malware did. A couple times the computer froze up so bad it didn't even want to turn off when I pressed the power button! Scary times. The computer is getting old, I can't remember when I got it, but it's been several years. The case still looks good, but the inner parts are getting old. I couldn't upgrade to win 10, ASUS told me some of the parts wouldn't work if I did. Anyway, I think I got everything copied off, the c drive is always in the red and I asked Andy if I could merge the c and d drives. I can! There are two drives on here, partitioned into 4 parts. So I would gain some space with a re-partition and merging of c and d. I deleted everything on the d drive and it's all ready now.
7 more days until WITL starts. I've taken the photos and done the journal pages several years, but I've never completed an album! I don't know if it's getting old and forgetful or what, but I don't have the desire to do scrapbooking like I used to.
John made forms and poured some of the edge around the old bathroom addition at Casa. When we took down the walls it left a ragged edge! Eric was here today and helped him. I emptied boxes in my studio at Casa and got things put away. Still got things to sort and figure out where to put them. Photographed the cardboard from the bath area walls, they nailed it to the logs, then chickenwire and stucco. Wow, they sure don't make cardboard like the used to, it's thick!
Andy called and invited us over to a BBQ at their house. Michael and Haley are out visiting from Indiana? and Anthony is up visiting, too. Didn't see much of Anthony, while most of us ate outside, he was inside with Talona. Susan also ate inside. So Andy, Jess, Michael, Haley, John and I ate outside. Jess has been sick, she got sick at school today, throwing up and not feeling well. Hope she's better soon!
Mom called while we were gone so I called her back. Aunt Robbie was flown to Tucson today!
She has been having problems lately, she's been kind of ditzyer than usual and yesterday she called Mom wanting her to check her blood sugar and blood pressure as she thought one was too low and one too high. Carleen and Mom went up to her house and checked her out, her sugar was fine, her BP was a bit high. They said she was acting funny, so when Mom got home she called Nelson. He took her to the ER and they flew her out from there. Tests done at the ER show she has 2 tumors in her brain and one on her spine. They are still trying to run tests, tried a spinal tap today and couldn't get any fluid, so they will try again tomorrow. Mom wasn't clear on what treatment she will get or whether or not the tumors are cancerous. She's at Tucson Medical Center.

It snowed last night!! There was about 1/2 an inch on the ground when I got up. John said it snowed heavy for a bit after he got up.
I showered and then went out and shoot photos of the snow. Checked out Casa, too snowy to work. Hope it's nice tomorrow!
Snowed off and on all day. Didn't do much today, took naps and read. John worked in the shop a bit.

March 27, 2017
Busy day! We worked at Casa all day, demolishing more walls. John had the idea to leave the logs up part way for a fence around the cement area, but we found the bottoms of the logs were rotting out, so gave up on that idea. He cut the porch roof and wall where we are going to tear part off and tomorrow we'll try hooking up a chain and pulling it. Hoping it will pull the shed off the building. John took out the bolts holding the porch roof to the building.
I found a piece of cardboard in the bathroom wall today that has a monkey on it. It was a box for Monkey Grip tire patches. I googled it hoping to find when they were made and as far as I can tell they started making them in the 1920's. From clues in the picture of the piece I found I think this box was from sometime in the 1950's. That would put the construction on this addition a lot later than we were guessing. They started making the patches in the 1920's but didn't make tube tires until in the 50's and the picture says they are for tires and tubes. I was hoping to find info on when they used the monkey in the picture I have, they apparently changed monkey's over the years, but I can't find any info on that.
I have found dates on the pieces of paper they used to seal up the cracks in the porch in the 1960's and today we looked at the strips closer and found a piece from a catalog cover saying Mor-Valu family gift album. I looked that up and found a picture of the whole cover! It says it's from the 1970s.
We worked an evening shift at Casa. We went back after supper and tore down the porch. Our set up worked so slick! John cut a hole in the roof over the window, threaded a chain through the hole and window and we hooked it up to a tree with a come along in the middle and ratcheted it until it fell! I found 33 cents, a ring and some game cards and pieces along the edge of some concrete! I picture the money fairy going around the house and yard sprinkling money everywhere. I keep finding coins in the yard, in cracks in the house, not a lot, I'm not sure how much I've found, but I keep finding them! I don't think our house and yard have any, so I'm not sure how they got sprinkled around at Ray's.

Wash day, so I started laundry. John installed a hitch on the putt so he can pull the long trailer around the yard with it. Then he went over and tore down the south bathroom wall. Just a bit of the east wall by the tub left and then we can demolish the outer walls. We're getting there! I didn't think two old people could do what we're done. Guess we're not as old as I thought we were!!
Connie called, Guy is coming over to visit and they are having a luncheon and we're invited.
Had a good visit, the lunch was at Julie and Carl's house. It was good to see Guy, it's been a while. After lunch John and I went up to see Mom, she's doing good, she's been going through all her stuff and weeding out things and trying to get her photos in order.

Windy day! The wind really did a number on our pour, insulation stuck to it and it didn't sweep off! Didn't have time to finish it up either, so it's kind of uneven. Took down the attic boards and then the rafters. Lots of insulation up there, we put what we could in boxes. I was getting stuff in my eyes and it was terrible so I went and got some goggles and that helped a lot. We got one wall of the bathroom down, the east wall. It had the water pipes in it, so took a while to cut them off.

March 24, 2017
Cold morning. Not many clouds left from yesterday's storm. Never did get any snow on the ground. John got the cement and poured another piece of our sidewalk today The part under the door. It was a booger to do and the wind picked up just as we were done and sprinkled insulation all over it!! Darn wind, anyway!! It's supposed to get pretty breezy this afternoon.

March 23 2017
Cold today, we got some wind and snow. Picked up our food order and John got a few things at Bashas he needed for his lunch. We pretty much eat separate meals now, I can't eat what he does and he mostly doesn't like what I eat. I had cabbage slaw for lunch and he had mashed potatoes, breaded chicken strips, peas, gravy and toast.
It's been cold and windy all day with showers and a bit of snow.
Took a load of roof boards, etc to the dump. Didn't cost as much as John was thinking it would, $10 something, he thought it was going to be 20 or more.

March 22
John took down the rest of the roof on the bathroom part of casa. Next are the floor boards from the attic. I think he will put them on the kitchen side, it made it much easier for him to remove the roof with the boards to stand on! We filled up several boxes with the blown in insulation. Yuck, what a mess! Chuch Slade and another guy stopped by this am to take a look at the stucco we need done. Sounds like they are interested in doing it. Not sure, LOL! Never did say how much they would charge to do it.

March 21 2017
I had an appointment with the eye doc today. He said my eyes are doing better as far as dryness goes. I have a bump on my right cornea, he's not sure what or why but thinks it is a contributing factor to my worsening vision in that eye. Decided to wait for cataract surgery he thinks my eyes need more healing. I stopped taking the expensive eye drops he gave me to take. They wanted over $400 in January to refill, so I didn't get them. He said the flax, chia seeds, fish oil and massage will work, it will just take longer That's okay with me. You have to use a steroid drop in your eye when you have the surgery and steroids don't like me, so I'll put if off as long as I can!
When I got home we went over to casa and John got up on the roof and demoed more of it. Didn't want him up on the roof when no one was home to call 911 if needed! We also knocked down more of the log wall on the north so there is a big opening now. Can't wait to get the roof all off. We're leaving the side over the wood shed there for now, we need good weather so it won't rain inside and make a mess in the cellar.

March 20 2017
The first day of spring! Leaves are coming out on trees and I'm seeing lots of blooming trees around town. Weather says more winter is coming, wind the next two days then snow, then more cold weather. The blooms will be all frozen. John said he thinks our pear tree has bloomed and frozen, I keep forgetting to check. I haven't seen any flowers on it. Rex Brown brought his tractor over for John to help him build some supports for his plows. He says the hard ground will make them get off center. They got it all done today. We were thinking about doing the second pour on our sidewalk today, but decided we'd wait until the bad weather is over. Don't want to take the risk of it freezing. Instead, John started taking the roof off the part of the building we're demolishing. He got quite a bit of it done. It's going easier than the first one he took off, it was connected to roof we were saving and lots of nails to take out. This one he's cutting strips out of the roof. Went shopping today.

Sunday Did laundry today, not much else. I still don't feel well, feel feverish this evening. John took the forms off our first pour and will get more bags of cement for the next one. I counted up 4 more sections.

March 18 2016
I didn't feel good today, felt feverish and my heart was acting up. Spent a lot of time sleeping. Took my temp in the evening, it was only 99.6.

March 17 2017
We made the first pour on our breezeway this morning!! We poured the last stem wall on the east side and added more fill dirt. Loaded up the stucco from the area where we demolished the kitchen wall and took it to the dump. 10 bucks plus a few cents to dump it!! And the trailer wasn't that full! We have got lots more stucco to remove, wish we could find another way to dispose of it!
Today is St. Patrick's day, didn't even wear green! Too busy to celebrate. Took off the form from the east wall and put it on the west wall. We will pour that tomorrow. I haven't felt good all day. Woke up early and have been nauseated all day. Wonder if the metformin is doing it? It did it before when I was taking it. I'm only doing a half dose, I take it at night.

Worked at Casa again. We poured more of the wall around the edges of the breezeway and put rock and dirt in the middle to bring it up to the edge of the walls. Tomorrow we are going to pour the first bit of the sidewalk!! Eric dropped off the cd's Connie made of family tapes. I was sad that they don't work in my computer or John's. We tried one in the pickup and it will play there. Emailed Charles to see if he knows how I could copy them from the CD's to my computer. Hope there is a way! Nice day, there was a bit of a cold breeze this afternoon. We got the cement for our pour tomorrow. It's going to be so nice to have it all done!!

March 15, 2017
Went shopping this am. Had a long list, we've not been in a while. Worked on the breezeway at Casa, put up a form and poured against the adobes under the back door. We're going to pour along the house side and the wood shed side to keep dirt and water away, then fill in between the pours, then pour on top of them for the breezeway floor. Not sure how it's going to work out, we keep running into unexpected things, like a rock foundation where we were going to remove the floor.
Spent most of the day working at Casa. We removed some of the foundation rocks that are sticking up too high for the walkway we want to pour. Wish we could go back in a time machine to see when construction took place! We keep finding weird things going on. There is some concrete under where we removed a slab and I think there is a foundation wall lining up with the interior kitchen dividing wall. Was the old kitchen walled in with no door at one time? And why did they pour the floor outside the bathroom twice?
Went for a walk after supper just as the sun was going down. Made it a mile and turned around cause we didn't want to walk in the dark. Just after we got home the sky lit up with the most gorgeous colors!! I had to go out and shoot it. Didn't have my shoes on and ended up walking down the Casa driveway to get some shots in just my socks!

March 14 2017
Spent the day working at Casa. We tore up the floor that was the old kitchen just outside the new back door. It is now outside the building and is wood and wouldn't last long out in the weather. It was cool to see how the floor was constructed. Wood logs laid on a rock foundation and flattened on top with the floor boards on the logs. Ray or Sam had added particle board on top of the old flooring. Under the particle board was the old linoleum and under that was newspaper and tin over that where Joe had his cook stove. I guess to keep the floor from catching fire? I did see a bit of black wood next to the tin, so maybe it was helping. The newspapers were dated in 1948, wish I knew if that was when the kitchen was built or just when someone put down new linoleum. We thought we'd have to put blocks for a foundation under where we're building a wall for the woodshed part, but there is a rock foundation near where we were going to cut, so we'll just make the woodshed a bit larger and our foundation is already done!
Tired tonight, we worked hard today! We're going to pour cement next to the adobe walls that will be beneath our new floor, then fill the inside with dirt, then pour a floor on top. The hole is too deep, the floor would be 12 inches or so thick!

Didn't feel good this morning. My stomach is upset and I am nauseated.
We worked at Casa this morning. Filled in the window space in what is going to be our wood shed and took down logs in the north wall. John left a message with Chuch Slade to come look and see how much he would charge to stucco the places that need in on the main house. When we took down the kitchen roof, it exposed some adobes we need to get them covered. We've had plastic on them this winter.

Worked at Casa all day. We got the adobe wall on the south side knocked down. Just need to cut back on the roof part. Dug into the mess by the back door to see what is going on. Found 2 logs that hold up the old kitchen floor and a bunch of rocks under the cement slab that was there. We busted out the slab, it was sticking up too high and was busted in places.
I have not felt good all day, my stomach is bothering me, I'm wondering if it was the cereal I ate for breakfast?
Tired this evening, had a hard time staying awake!

John and I worked at Casa this morning, then went on a picnic to 20 foot falls again. We met Andy's family and Johnathon Holden about 3 pm. We thought maybe the flow would be higher in the afternoon as it had all day to melt snow, but it was about the same as yesterday. Carrol Spence and Christine were there, said they'd been there all day and that the water was running good when they got there at 11. Had hot dogs with Andy's family, had a good visit, came on home.

March 10, 2017 Setting up for WITL
I'm setting up a space for 2017's Week in the life with Ali Edwards. Hoping to get er' done this year!! At least I will have a blog just in case I never finish the album, LOL!
Today we are going to go on a picnic to the 20' falls. We've visited almost every year for a long time now and it feels like spring is finally here when the snow melt starts running! We have to guess when we think the water will be running each year, some years we get it right and others it's finished or the flow is dwindling down. Cousin Mel has been watching the water flow past his place this year and he says it's running pretty good now. Hope today is as gorgeous as yesterday was!!
Went for our picnic to the falls. They are running! Yea, spring is here. Connie, Eric, Julie, Shirley, Chuck, Spence, Christine and their granddaughter came. I wore my brand new Keen shoes and they were pretty keen!! We hiked up the hill to the top of the falls and walked quite a bit and my feet felt good. When I first put them on, they hurt my toe and I was afraid they weren't going to be good, but the pain stopped when I walked in them, maybe they stretched a bit. Just after we finished eating lunch, Mel noticed that the water looked kind of muddy, so we checked it out. The flow had increased! As we were leaving, Andy, Susan and Mamma Mia showed up. He said he kept getting phone calls and they couldn't get away any sooner. Visited with them a bit, then headed on home. Jess and Jonathon Holden came just after we got home. She was up to a track event here that Jonathan was participating in.
